Ever wondered why some people's makeup look so polished, matte and look like it was applied on a glass? I did wonder too at a time. Looking at Celebrities during their interviews, their pictures on Social media, red carpet, parties and everywhere you see them, their makeup always fleeky!
Well they are definately doing something you might not be doing!
Although we all know they have professional makeup artists at their neck and call, but then the secrets behind those flawless face beat isn't something out of the universe!
With my experience on professional makeup, and also conversing with other makeup artists, I found out the secrets are almost similar and one feature remains everyone's trick!
1.SET YOUR SKIN
Avoid wearing too much cream on your am face prior to your makeup, too much of cream will make your makeup slip off and smear. However wear very tiny amount of moisturizer to keep your face hydrated as hydrating your face is necessary to keep your makeup looking healthy. For long event I like to use an oil free primer. It's great to start out matte and allow the skin to gradually become dewy.
2. HYDRATE YOUR FACE TO KEEP IT BALANCED
Make sure your skin is hydrated, at this point no moisturizer, you can use an hydrating facial mask to help balance your skin.
3. USE A LIGHT LIQUID FOUNDATION
It's time for your foundation, use a light liquid foundation, this allows easy application and also allows the foundation to stay on your face, avoid using cakey or heavy creamy foundation as this would cause real hazard to your makeup once you hit the sun. If you are older, stick to a light, sheer foundation, and a pearlized one when trying to hide blemishes like sunburn, spots etc. Make sure to choose a foundation that is water-resistant, so as to help prevent humid conditions, like sweat or water splash.
4. USE A SETTING SPRAY
Setting sprays are also very important in the makeup process, when you choose the right one, it allows your foundation stay matte, sit well and also gives it a great airbrush effect.
5. PRIME YOUR LIDS
You have to prime your lids, priming your lids will help keep your eyeshadow from creasing and falling into fine lines.Avoid using shimmery eyeshadows at this time, go for matte shadows. This will keep your eyeshadow for a long time and prevent creasing. Keep your lower lids clean such that powder or foundation has no stay on it. For a long lasting liner, use a pencil of the same color as your liner over the liner. Also make sure to use a water proof mascara.
6. GET YOUR LIPS POLISHED
For a long lasting lips, always use a lip pencil the exact shade of your lipstick or close enough to line your lips and fill the entire lips, then apply some loose powder over it before applying a matte lipstick over it. If you must use a gloss, use lip gloss that stay. Blot your lip on a tissue at least three times to get the Kiss effect out.
7. LAYER YOUR CHEEK
For a long lasting cheek color, try using a little creamy blush and go over it with a powder one.
The most important tricks of all however is to
always choose products that says 'long wear' as these has ingredients that help to withstand humidity and stay for long time. Also use blotting papers all day to blot out any excess oil or moisture from your makeup.
VOILA! Your makeup can now stay as long as you want.
Hope this was helpful.
